REMINDER we are temporarily swimming at the new Naenae pool, Te Ngaengae Pool and Fitness whilst our home venue Huia Pool is refurbished. First swim back in the new year is on Sunday 5th January 2025.

Our club members have a range of swimming abilities and goals. Most swim for fitness, fun and to socialise with other swimmers, while others train to compete in New Zealand Masters sanctioned meets or for endurance events such as triathlons, ocean swims and ironman.

Huia Masters Swimmers Club was formed in 1982 so 2023 was our 40th anniversary. Take a look at this insightful history created for our 30th Anniversary.

    Membership Options

    You are invited to swim with us in the pool for up to three club nights before you join.

    Social Membership

    Swim at Club Nights, all Club activities and participate in non sanctioned swim meets.

    Social Membership Subscription: $130.00 per year. Great value at less than $3 per swim if you came to every session - a normal public swim is currently $7

    Full NZ Masters Membership

    New Zealand Masters membership is required if you wish to compete in New Zealand Masters sanctioned swimming meets. Please note that NZ Masters subscriptions are due by the end of December (i.e. before the new club membership year) so please take this into account when payiong your subs to avoid the NZ Masters imposed 'late' fee.

    New Zealand Masters Membership $195.00 (includes Social Membership).

    Swimmers are eligible for New Zealand Masters membership in the year they turn 20.

    We hire the whole pool, not just a few lanes so there is plenty of space to swim. Your pool entry charges are included in the annual subscription fee - the more often you come the more you save!

    Club Nights

    • Session Times

      We meet Sunday night from 6.00pm - 7.00pm. Enjoy a spa after your swim (temporarily unavailable whilst we are at Te Ngaengae pool).

    • Format

      You can set your own programme or ask another club member to set one for you.

    • Venue

      Huia Masters hire the whole pool so you don't have to compete for space with public swimmers.

    • Stroke Correction & Coaching

      The club can organise a swim school for members with a qualified local Swim Coach.

    Regional Events

    • Levin Masters Annual Swim Meet - Levin Aquatic Centre
    • Friday 2nd and Saturday 3rd May 2025.

    • Distance events (400, 800 and 1500 freestyle) will be held on Friday, 2 May from 6pm. All main events will be held on Saturday, 3 May. Warm up 3pm and racing starting at 3.30pm on Saturday. This is a non-sanctioned swim meet and all swimmers are welcome. The usual 'after match function' will follow. Entries close 28 April 2025.

    National & International Events

    • 38th Auckland Masters Short Course Champs - hosted by Roskill Masters. Sunday, 4 May 2025 at Cameron Pool, Arundel St, Mt. Roskill, Auckland

    • This is a sanctioned swim meet. Swimmers must be current, at the time of the meet, financial members of NZMS. Alternatively, swimmers can be a registered member of a Masters swimming club from abroad for the period ending 31 December 2025 in order to swim at this event.

    • New Zealand Masters Long Course Championships. Friday, 23 to Sunday, 25 May 2025 at Sir Owen G Glenn National Aquatic Centre - 17 Antares Place, Mairangi Bay

    • For the third year in a row, NZ Masters Swimming are partnering with Swimming New Zealand to deliver the 2025 New Zealand Masters Swimming Championships. In 2025, this event will be run alongside the final three days of the 2025 Apollo Projects NZ Swimming Championships with Masters races being held in between the heats and finals.
    • This is a sanctioned swim meet and ALL swimmers are welcome.

    • North Island Short Course Championships. 19 and 20 July 2025 at Westwave Henderson

    • Waitakere City Masters have kindly offered to host the 2025 North Island Short Course Champs.

    Club Activities

    As well as swimming at club nights members compete in New Zealand Masters Swim Meets, Ocean swims, Triathlons and Ironman events.

    After your session enjoy a soak in the hot spa (temporarily not available whilst we are at Te Ngaengae pool). When the pool is closed for annual maintenance in July/August we hold a club dinner.

    Most years we hold a Spring Fun Meet in September or October

    Every December we hold our Tin Man competition before the Christmas barbecue.
